  1. Try the following first:

    • Estimate the number of connection signal strength indicators. If there are less than 3, try moving closer to the router or other wireless Internet source you are using to improve the quality of the connection.
    • Make sure Battery Saver is disabled. Connect the network adapter if necessary.
    • Disable Bluetooth. Wireless connections can operate in the same range, which is why interference is created.
    • Disable Airplane mode if it is active.
    • Try to activate access to information about your location and connect to Wi-Fi - the legislation of some countries blocks connection via wireless networks when the mentioned option is inactive.

    Here is a list of problems why Wi-Fi is not connected on an android phone:

    • incorrect type of encryption in the router settings;
    • the country is set incorrectly;
    • channel problem;
    • lack of a MAC address after flashing the device;
    • failure of the program;
    • custom firmware can interfere with network connectivity.

    First, you should reboot the router - there is a button on the back of it that you need to press, hold for a few seconds and release.

    If there is also no connection to the wifi router, then change the router settings:

    • open any browser on the PC;
    • in the address bar, enter 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, press "enter";
    • write login, password and go;
    • open the section "wireless mode" and "wireless settings";
    • in the "Region" item, select Russia;
    • set up the channel - set any, preferably up to 10;
    • you need to experiment with the “mode” item - choose another one and see the result, since a tablet or smartphone may not support everything;
    • press the "save" button;

    • reboot - open "system tools" and "reboot".

    If after that the phone does not connect, then by changing the settings further:

    • in the same paragraph, open the "wireless protection" section;
    • set the WPA / WPA2 version, and the AES encryption type;
    • save and reboot the router.

    These changes solve the problem in most cases:

    • if the phone does not connect to wifi, it writes saved, but works with other points;
    • when the device does not see a working network;
    • with an unstable connection.

    The phone must first be rebooted, often this solves the problem. If it didn't work out, then we try to assign a static ip address:

    • go to the settings of the smartphone;
    • open the "Wi-Fi" section;
    • by long pressing on the item with the name of the problematic network, we call up a menu in which we select “change network”;

    • a submenu will appear, put a checkmark on "additional";
    • click on the "DHCP" item and select "custom";

    • scroll down and in the line "IP address" change the numbers after the last dot to any;
    • press the save button.

    In case of failure, open the menu again. In the paragraphs "DNS 1", "DNS 2" enter 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, respectively - these are Google addresses. If they were originally recorded, then we find and prescribe DNS servers your provider.

    On rooted devices with android below 4.0, you can delete files with Wi-Fi settings. For this you need:

    • open a file manager, for example, ES explorer;
    • go to the root of the system, denoted as "/", then to the folder "data / misc / dhcp";
    • remove the files "dhcpcd-wlan0.lease" and "dhcpcd-wlan0.pid".

    If problems appeared after flashing, then the problem is most likely in the MAC address. Let's check it first:

    • open settings;
    • scroll down, go to the item "about the phone";
    • then "general information" and "status";
    • in the "Wi-Fi MAC address" item, there must be a combination of Latin letters and numbers.

    If instead, only zeros, then set the new address:

    • download from Play market MacChanger application (requires root rights);
    • open it, press the "Generate Random Mac" button, a random address will appear;
    • Tap on "Simple Change My Mac".

In the modern world, the Internet and electronic gadgets are used everywhere. Sometimes, due to the fact that the phone does not connect to the wi-fi router, many plans collapse. Phones and tablets provide constant access to any information on the Internet.

Many busy people use their gadgets to check work mail, resolve some issues, and if their phone does not connect to a Wi-Fi router, they become “cut off” from the world.

The user simply does not know what to do in such a situation and whom to contact. Consider the most basic reasons why you can’t connect your phone to wi-fi.

First, before looking for global problems, simply restart your device. Then reboot the router, you need to remove it from the outlet for 15 seconds, then insert it again. This is the time it takes for the router to run out of power. If there is a battery, take it out and put it back in, then restart the phone again. If you still cannot connect your phone to a wi-fi router, then the problem is more serious.

Interaction with technical support. First, make sure that the Internet is paid, often the problem lies precisely in this. Next, check if the router is connected to the network, if after checking all this you are completely sure that the problem lies in the modem, call your Internet provider.

Be sure to find out before this the model of the router you are using, as different specialists work with different models. Explain in detail what the problem is, the operator, most likely, will not be able to solve the problem and will switch to a person who specializes in a particular modem model. He will check the connection with the router, if necessary, reset the settings. If the matter is in the general house switch, then the specialist will remotely reboot it.

Getting advice from the technical support of the provider

Why the phone does not connect to Wi-Fi:

  1. in the settings opposite the desired network, “Connecting ...” is displayed, but the phone still does not connect. For some reason, the connection to the desired wi-fi is not available;
  2. "authentication error";
  3. "saved, WPA/WPA2 protected";
  4. The device is connected to a wifi router, but there is no network connection.

The cause of problems with connecting the phone to wi-fi can also be errors in the security settings of the network or router.

Problem Solutions

First, try deleting the wi-fi network saved on your phone. To do this, go to the connection settings, select the desired network and click "Delete". Then reconnect to it.

If the user has never changed the router settings, and there were no connection problems, you can try changing the channel wireless network. When you change the channel, you can quickly connect your phone. To do this, open the router settings, the "Wireless Network" tab and change the channel. Don't forget to save your changes and reboot your router. If there are multiple channels, try connecting to all.

Change channel in router settings

With an “authentication error”, it is possible that the wrong password is entered when connecting to wi-fi. Delete the network that you can't connect to and re-enter the password. Enter the password very carefully, following the layout. The password can be found in the router settings.

Authentication error when connecting to wi-fi

"Saved, WPA/WPA2 security." If "Saved, WPA/WPA2 security" is displayed, there is a problem with the security settings. Check the wireless operation mode, it may just be that the gadget does not support this mode, set it to mixed or automatic. You can try changing the encryption type to WPA2, you will need to come up with a new password and remember it.

After each change, follow the same steps - saving existing settings, completely rebooting the router, deleting the connection, entering a new password and connecting again to wi-fi. The new password must also be entered on all devices previously connected to the router.

Let's take Windows 10 as an example. Go to "Start" -\u003e "Settings"  "Network and Internet", on the left select "WiFi" "Adapter Settings", select the network from which you need to find out the password, in the "Wireless Network Properties" menu, "Security" tab, select "Display input characters". Remember the password and enter it in the device connected to the Internet.

If there is no computer connected to the Internet, then the password is changed in the router itself. To enter the menu, type the ip address of the wi-fi router you are using in the browser line, it is always in the instructions. It can be found in "Adapter Parameter Settings" (see above). After entering the ip, a window will appear for entering the login and password, as a rule, it is admin admin or no password at all. In the menu that opens, find the "Wireless" tab and then the "Password" or "Key" tab.

In general, it’s not so difficult to figure out why the phone can’t connect to wi-fi, however, if you are not sure of your actions, it’s better not to take risks and call the wizard from those support so as not to accidentally disrupt work and seriously harm the system.

At present, it turns out that a computer or laptop may not be in every home, but a tablet or phone is already an attribute everywhere. The modern telephone industry is developing exponentially, through the latest phones you can access the Internet. Are there cases that cause problems with connecting the phone to wifi?

There are not many problems with this, but they are present. Of course, the first thing to do is to identify the cause of this event, and only then deal with its elimination. Sometimes you get so busy that you forget about paying for Internet services. This event is rare, but possible and easily solved, so you should not take it into account, although you should also forget about paying. Why won't it connect to wifi? Let's figure it out.

To solve this problem, you need to carry out two simple methods:

  • The first solution is to restart the modem, since sometimes it happens to change its settings on its own by turning the device off and on with the button located behind the router, sometimes it helps to restore the previous settings and the task will disappear by itself.
  • The second question will be, if this problem is not resolved, you should contact the operator. Technical support should help in this matter.

So why won't the phone connect to wifi if simple methods have already been tried? It turns out that there are still nuances that the device requires.

Get an IP address

Information about " obtaining an IP address» is located, as a rule, in the right corner of the display, where the icon « clock". In the absence of the green wifi indicator, it is impossible to access the Internet, since it is clearly not there. This problem is similar to the first one. It is necessary to restart the router and turn it on, not earlier than after ten minutes. If this nuance did not bring a positive result, then you need to proceed to the next stage of connecting the device.

This point is not very good and has to do with assigning a static IP address to . This is due to the fact that the phone is currently connected to the home network indicators, but this prevents other networks from accessing the Internet. To fix an unexpected obstacle, you will have to resort to the exclusion of the IP address and change its appearance.

How to register a static address?

Authentication error

A common reason for not connecting the phone to wifi is information that this device cannot recognize the network to receive wifi. The answer to this is simple - the wrong network password. To do this, you need to carefully check it and only then return to the network again. Provided that everything worked out, you should proceed to the next stage.

  • The first thing to do is restart the router again. This advice is given by everyone, including technical support workers themselves.
  • A truly difficult aspect is to make some adjustments to the settings of the router itself. To do this, you need to enter its settings through the browser, select the appropriate conditions in the router settings: version WPA-PSK, encryption - AES, only then the password is entered. On routers, passwords have no more than eight digits. Then the protection mode is set WPA\WPA2 personal. These indicators contribute to an easy wifi connection. You should know that the proposed actions are performed only when nothing helps.
  • Sometimes there are suspicions that there is no compatibility, for example, the type of encryption that is used by the router and the phone.

This task, perhaps, has the status of common problems when the phone cannot connect to wifi. The first step is to restart the router again, under this condition, changes in the connection rarely occur. Now you need to change the router settings. For these purposes, you should open the modem settings page, regardless of which browser. And now you need to be extremely careful. For this purpose, you need to check which region is set, in the absence of the required region, you should change it.

However, if the culprit is encryption, then you should follow the same path as with erroneous authentication. After that, you need to set indicators that will sufficiently simplify the procedure for connecting to the network. Of course, you can simply delete the old connection and start searching for this network first. This option can be attributed to the simplest and most affordable.

In addition, you can try to restart the phone, because sometimes it has the right to change the settings on its own or provided that something was pressed in the wrong place. It happens that the 3G network system introduces incorrectness in connecting the router.

All the proposed options can only be performed by people with experience and knowledge. Those who are new to this issue, it is better for them to rely on the technical support service. Since with your, sometimes, insufficient knowledge and skills, you can not connect, but cause even more harm to the device and system.

The best option for connecting your phone to wifi is to contact the operator while still in the store. Experienced workers are always ready to go for a short explanation or independently connect wifi. In case of refusal, go to the workshop on the way and get the necessary information about connecting the phone to wifi. Good luck to everyone, so that everything works out immediately and forever!

Now, probably, you will not find users who have not heard and have never used Wi-Fi wireless Internet. It is the main source of connection to the World Wide Web for mobile devices. However, sometimes it happens that an Android phone or tablet does not want to receive Internet from a home router or any other wireless access point. Today we will try to figure out why this is happening and how to fix this problem.

This kind of behavior is not typical, and most of it is due to software problems: incorrect settings of the phone (tablet) or the router itself, as well as problems with the firmware of both. There may also be hardware incompatibility - this, alas, happens. Let's go in order.

Reason 1: Wrong dot password entered

The most common cause of problems with Wi-Fi, which is caused by banal inattention. As a rule, Android devices report that they cannot connect to the point if the password is entered incorrectly. It looks like this.

If you see a similar message, the algorithm of actions is as follows.

If the problem is still observed, proceed to the next steps.

Reason 2: Incorrectly configured type of protection in the router

Also a fairly common cause of Wi-Fi connection problems. This is especially true for older routers, which may not support certain types of secure connections. You can fix this problem like this.

  1. Look in the router's user manual for the login address to the management web interface. If there is no manual, then, as a rule, there is a sticker with the specified address on the router itself. In most cases, it consists of numbers, and looks like this, for example.
    192.168.*.*
    Instead of symbols «*» there will be a number from 1 to 9.
  2. Open a browser (any one will do) and enter the address that you learned in the address bar. Should load a page like this.

    The login and password for the web interface in most cases is a word "admin". If it doesn’t fit, study the instructions and the router itself in more detail - the default login and password must be indicated there!
  3. Once logged in, you will get something like this.
  4. Next steps: find the Wi-Fi connection setting in the menu. It is usually called "Wireless LAN", Wi-Fi Settings, simply WLAN or, if the interface is Russified, "Wireless Network/Networks".

    Click on it 1 time with the mouse.
  5. A window similar to this will open.

    Look for a setting in it that contains the word "Encryption" or "Encryption type". As a rule, it is combined with a drop-down menu.

    Select the protection type from this drop-down menu AES. Don't forget to save your changes.
  6. You may also need to reboot your router. You can do this directly from the web interface.

    A banal power off of the router for 10-20 seconds will also help.

If the reason for the problems with Wi-Fi was incorrect encryption, then the next attempt to connect the Android device to the hotspot should be successful.

The most popular problem of the Internet connection series and WiFi networks, this is when the laptop does not connect to a Wi-Fi network through a router. There are a lot of questions on our website on this topic, and so often they ask what to do if the laptop does not want to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi? I decided to write a separate article in which to collect all possible reasons and their solutions related to connecting to Wi-Fi networks.

We will consider laptops and computers with Wi-Fi adapters. Simply put, any computer that can connect to the Internet wirelessly. Also, this article is suitable for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10. We already have many separate instructions on the site, with solutions to various, specific Wi-Fi problems on both Windows 7 and Windows 10 laptops. In the course of writing this article, I will give links that you will definitely need.

In the very question "what to do if the laptop does not connect to Wi-Fi", there is no specific information at all. There can be a lot of reasons why you cannot connect a computer to a router, as well as solutions. And as practice shows, the computer is not always to blame. I will try to consider all possible problems in order, so that you yourself can fix them without any problems. Of course, everyone has different laptops, different routers, settings, problems, errors, etc. This undoubtedly complicates the task, it is very difficult to prepare a universal instruction that would help absolutely everyone.

If you have a laptop with installed Windows, there is a Wi-Fi router that distributes the network, and you can’t connect your laptop to the Internet wirelessly, you can’t figure out what’s what, then this article should help you.

Before we move on to some settings, be sure to try connecting your laptop to a Wi-Fi network via. If you have Windows 10, then see. Perhaps you will succeed. If the problem persists, the computer could not connect to Wi-Fi, then see the article below.

All problems with the connection and operation of the Internet, I would divide into three categories:

  • The laptop does not see the Wi-Fi network at all: the wireless adapter is turned off, the driver is not installed.
  • The computer sees the Wi-Fi network, but does not connect to it: incorrect password, "failed to connect", endless connection, etc.
  • The laptop connects to the wireless network, but the Internet does not work: "No Internet access", "Limited".

You can skip directly to the section you need, depending on what problem you have. Whatever it is, it must definitely fall into one of the categories. This will make it much easier and clearer.

What to do if the laptop does not see the Wi-Fi network?

And so, let's start with the problem when your computer does not see wireless networks at all. At the same time, you are sure that your Wi-Fi network is working, there are neighboring networks, and they are displayed on other devices. But, in the list of available networks in Windows, they are not. Yes, there is no list. In this case, the connection status (icon on the taskbar), it will most likely look like this:

If on the notification panel you see a wireless network icon with a red cross "no connections available", then most likely there really is not a single wireless network in the radius. But, it is possible that this problem appeared for other reasons. In this case, running "Diagnostics of Problems" may help. (you can run it by right-clicking on the connection icon). I wrote about this using the example of Windows 10, in an article.

It's most likely your first case. Red cross next to the computer. In this case, the driver for the Wi-Fi adapter is not installed. Or, the wireless adapter itself is turned off. Let's first make sure that everything is in order with the driver, since nothing will work without it.

Checking the wireless adapter driver

To do this, we need to go to the device manager. Right-click on "Computer" or "This PC" and select Properties. In a new window, on the left, open Device Manager. You can also in the start menu, in the search, start writing "device manager" and open it in the search results.

In device manager we need to open a tab Network adapters, and see if there is a driver for our wireless adapter. You will recognize it by these words in the name: "Wireless" and "Wi-Fi". Here's what it looks like:

If everything is in order, then read this article further. If there is no driver for the Wi-Fi adapter in the device manager, then you need to install it, and everything will work. If you don’t know how to install the driver, where to download it, etc., then see the article on. On Windows 8 or Windows 10, this process will practically not differ.

The main thing is to download and install the driver for your laptop model (or the adapter itself if you have a USB/PCI adapter), and for your operating system. Well, I advise you to download the driver from the official websites of manufacturers. If it doesn’t work out at all, then you can try programs for automatically installing drivers. But, this is if you can’t find the right driver in any way and install it manually.

Checking if the wireless adapter is enabled

The adapter itself, through which the laptop connects to Wi-Fi, or rather, in our case, it does not connect, can be turned off. This needs to be checked. Right click on the internet connection icon and select "Network and Sharing Center". In the new window, select Change adapter settings.

There should be an adapter Wireless network connection, or Wireless network - in Windows 10. If there is no such adapter there at all, then see above where I wrote about installing the driver. If it is, then it might be turned off. Right click on it and select Turn on.

If it is enabled, then you need to check if wireless connections are disabled on the laptop itself. On every laptop, there is a keyboard shortcut that can turn off / turn on wireless connections. (activate airplane mode), including Wi-Fi. This, as I already wrote, is either a keyboard shortcut, or some kind of separate switch. For example, on Asus laptops, these are the Fn+F2 keys. You can always find this combination yourself. Key Fn + antenna key, or something like that. You can see the separate instructions for . And if you have Windows 10, then see this instruction

So we figured out the problems, because of which it is impossible to connect to Wi-Fi. When there is no list of available networks to connect to. If you’ve tried everything, but you can’t get your computer to see wireless networks, then it’s possible that the adapter itself (hardware) is simply broken or disabled. This, by the way, often happens after disassembling a laptop and cleaning it from dust. You can describe your problem in detail in the comments, I will try to advise something.

Computer won't connect to Wi-Fi

According to the plan, the second big problem is when the laptop sees and displays a list of available networks, your network is there, but it does not connect to it. At the same time, other devices connect to your network (It would be nice to check and make sure of this). Let's now consider the most popular problems with connecting to Wi-Fi in Windows 7 and Windows 10. Everything is the same on the eight, there is nothing new there.

First of all, if any error occurs, restart your router and computer. Try to connect again.

Error: "Windows could not connect to..." and "Cannot connect to this network"

A very popular error that can appear when trying to connect a laptop to a Wi-Fi router.

I wrote about solving this error in Windows 10. As for Windows 7, the same solutions are there. To be honest, there are not many solutions, a not very clear error, and there is no specific way to get rid of it.

What else you can try to do: check on the laptop, in the properties Wireless network connection (protocol version TCP/IPv4) whether it is set to automatically obtain an IP address. In the router settings, you can try changing the security type of your network to WPA2-PSK (if you have another installed). All this can be done in the router settings. We have detailed instructions on the website for changing the password on different routers.

To solve the error "Windows could not connect to ..." in Windows 7 there is a .

Security key mismatch. Windows does not accept Wi-Fi password

You select your network in the list, specify the password, and Windows writes that the password is incorrect. Well, the computer does not connect to Wi-Fi, of course.

Try again, you may have entered the wrong security key. Check if CapsLock is enabled. If the laptop does not want to accept your password in any way, then there are two options: remember the password by looking at it in the router settings, or change the password from your wireless network. See article:. You can change the password, for example, to some simple one, from numbers. To check, then put a more complex password.

Read more about this error and its solution.

Another error that often appears in Windows when trying to connect to a wireless network. And it usually appears after changing some settings on the router. Basically, this is the network name and password.

When the error "The network settings saved on this computer do not meet the requirements of this network" appears, it always saves deleting the Wi-Fi network on the computer and reconnecting. Links to instructions for deleting a network in Windows 7 and Windows 10 (forget network), I gave a little higher (they are highlighted in blue).

After deleting information about the wireless network, simply reconnect by specifying the key to your network.

There is a Wi-Fi connection, but the Internet does not work

That's a different story altogether 🙂

Therefore, we have separate, large articles on this problem, when a laptop connects to Wi-Fi, but the Internet does not work:

I will not write here because of what the errors "Without access to the Internet", and "Limited" appear. The article has already learned a lot. If, after connecting to a wireless network, you encounter a problem when there is a connection, but the Internet does not work, then feel free to follow the links above. I'm sure you'll find solutions to these problems there.

I wanted to collect all possible, or at least the most popular problems encountered when connecting a computer to Wi-Fi. I think I got it. If you still could not solve your problem, then carefully read the article again. If it still doesn’t work, then describe your case in the comment, we will think together.
